Pronouns

When I was in grade school,
a teacher told us kids
to be careful
when using pronouns,
because they can be
so easily misunderstood,
so I write
using the first person singular
pronoun
almost exclusively,
and that is not
because I am so
egotistical,
but because
I don't want
to harm anyone
with the delusion
which is an illusion
of poetry talking to them,
personally,
since I have been
a victim
of that poetry abuse,
and when the music sings
sometimes the singer
gets mean
with his or her pronouns,

even if they don't mean to.
