As a kid
I heard the song
about somebody
watching over me,
and in Lutheran church
I heard about God,
and all through
the rest of my life
I heard about
higher powers
and bodhisattvas
and angels
and devils
and a great amount
of higher powers
who would watch over me,
and guide me,
and then it struck me
this morning
that somebody up there
or down there
or wherever
may be controlling me,
and I might not like
what they have in mind,
so after a lifetime
of prayer and meditation
and chanting and bowing,
I tend to like
the idea of Bodhidharma
who said,
Vast Empiness Everywhere,
but I still think
there is somebody up there
and I hope
they like me.
