The late composer,
John Cage,
once told me
that he arrived
at a crossroads,
where he could go
in the direction
of the things
that he intended,
or he could go
in the direction
of the things
that he didn't intend,
and that he chose
the latter,
so I pondered this
for about twenty years
and have discovered
that intention
is not wholly intentional
and that non-intention
is not wholly unintentional
and that these two
work together
in a kind of
mutually difficult harmony.
