Becoming Myself

They told us

to just be ourselves

but that confused us

because we already were ourselves

so we tried to be ourselves

and became something different

even though we were still ourselves

so I have devised

a little shapeshifting ritual

to become myself

and nothing happens to me

because I already am

myself.
