Kongsaeng, on his poetry

"I write my thoughts honestly, in a form, after I have meditated briefly. My practice is the mantra of Prajna Paramita from the Heart Sutra. Prajna Paramita means wisdom perfection. The thoughts that I write are my finished poem, that is like a carrot in the ground. If my poem is read, it is like pulling out the carrot and eating it: bitter greens, sweet root, and a little dirt.
I don't chop and dice and make a masterful gourmet feast. I just grow carrots. Oh, sometimes I scrape a little dirt off."
